& Craftsmanship
MJ Ko is an architectural designer based in New York City and Korea, and the founder of Sectioned Studio.
Her work moves fluidly across disciplines—spanning academic research, architecture, objects, and the arts—without settling into a single category.
With a background rooted in architectural education and practice, MJ approaches design as a form of inquiry. Her projects often explore systems, material processes, and narratives that sit at the intersection of art and architecture. Whether working through publications, spatial proposals, or 3D-printed objects, her practice resists fixed outcomes and instead emphasizes experimentation, structure, and conceptual clarity.
